The Albrecht von Haller Young Investigator Award awarded by the Swiss Heart Foundation honours outstanding work by young researchers in the cardiovascular field. Dr. Marco Luciani from the Center for Molecular Cardiology received 25,000 Swiss francs for his project on Alzheimer's disease. Indeed, Dr. Marco Luciani probes the role of natriuretic peptides in the setting of Alzheimer's disease. He is convinced that this will allow to understand their biological significance in the brain and eventually to provide novel therapeutic opportunities to patients with Alzheimer's disease.
