Vascular ageing is a major driver of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, myocardial infarction and cardiovascular death. The endothelium, ie a monolayer of squamous endothelial cells that line the interior surface of arteries, looses its regenerative capacity during ageing, making it susceptible for plaque initiation, progression and eventually destabilisation. Can these processes be halted by replacing aged cells by reprogrammed fat cells? Read the full interview with Dr. Soheil Saaedi now available in the UZH Magazin.
